How to recorde slow motion video like in iPhone 5s in iPhone 5

Apple is rightly pleased with its inclusion of 120fps slow motion feature in the iPhone 5s, and if the videos we have already seen taken with the device are any indication, it will be more than another feature that never gets used beyond the first couple of weeks. We’re looking at you, Samsung.
The problem with something like slow motion on the iPhone 5s though, is that everyone wants it. While not all iPhone owners will be upgrading to an iPhone 5s this year, that doesn’t mean that we don’t want to be able to take fancy slow motion videos on our existing hardware. Thankfully there are already a few apps on the App Store that promise to do just that, and a new one to join the fray is SlowCam, from iPhoneClan.
screen568x568 (1)
Priced at $1.99, there is obviously no doubt that the app is considerably cheaper than buying an iPhone 5s. That’s all well and good, but can the app really compete? Well, the description claims the app can do slow motion video on anything from the iPhone 5 upwards, with both the 5 and 5c being able to shoot at 60fps. The iPhone 5s can record video at 120fps using SlowCam too, just as it can using the standard iOS Camera app. SlowCam may still be worth checking out even if you have an iPhone 5s though, thanks to one or two of its other features.
screen568x568 (3)
One of the feature listed in the description is ‘Torch’, we’re going to hope that iPhoneClan actually mean that video can be recorded with the flash activated, seeing as there’s no real reason for a video recording app to act as a standalone torch, too.
screen568x568 (2)
At a couple of dollars SlowCam is far from expensive, so if you have an iPhone 5 or 5c then there really isn’t a great deal to lose from trying the app out for yourselves. The interface certainly looks the part, which is more than can be said for some of the competition on the App Store.

Is It Safe To Upgrade To iOS 7.0.2 For Prospective Jailbreakers??

With Apple having released iOS 7.0.2 to all iOS 7-compatible iPads, iPhones and the iPod touch 5th-gen, many of you have been in contact with us asking whether updating your device would hinder any chances of a future jailbreak.
Since the various developers behind the jailbreaks have yet to show their hands, it was always going to be unlikely that a new firmware release would hinder their progress, and thankfully, MuscleNerd of team Evad3rs has stepped out and confirmed that those iOS 7 users looking to update can indeed do so without worry.
iOS 7 iPad mini iPhone 5s
Via Twitter, MuscleNerd did make note of the rather excessive amount of detail made by Apple in the update notice, but also confirmed that since nothing about iOS 7.0.2 suggests Apple has tried to implement any anti-jailbreak measures, that it is safe for all existing iOS 7 users to update without any kind of risk to a future jailbreak.
iOS 7 jailbreak
Of course, if you are still on iOS 6.x and are enjoying your jailbreak, you should stay there, as there is currently no ETA whatsoever on arrival of iOS 7.x jailbreak.
MN7.0.2jailbreak
It often takes some months of searching for security holes and extensive testing before a jailbreak is ready for prime time, and with the Evad3rs team having delivered the goods previously with the iOS 6 Evasi0n jailbreak, Cydia fans far and wide will be hoping for more of the same now that the new-look iOS 7 has finally hit the end user.
Although, for a change, it would appear that Apple has implemented some new features and made changes based upon popular jailbreak tweaks (Control Center is somewhat derivative of SBSettings), the jailbreak scene will always continue to thrive so long as iOS remains a closed-source entity. The ability to tweak and alter the general experience beyond the mere installation of apps has become something of an institution to many iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users over the years, and although a jailbreak used to be rather easy for the hackers to achieve, Apple has gone to great lengths to ensure the process is as tricky as possible.
iOS 7 jailbreak iPhone
As such, we should not see a jailbreak as a divine right, but as something we can potentially look forward to. The hackers and modders work very hard in trying to find the exploits, and with a one hundred percent record for jailbreaking each major version of iOS untethered, we’ve high hopes once again.

Protect your iPhone against theft with Activation Lock in iOS 7

find_my_iphone_icon
Apple introduced Find My iPhone back in 2010 as a way for iOS users to locate their device in case it was lost or stolen. It also offers an easy method to remotely delete all the data on your device to protect sensitive information.
They’ve quite a few success stories reported in the media about people using the service to find their lost or stolen devices.
Unfortunately, it had a major weakness, it was very easy for someone to erase and restore the device as a new device, and use it.
Apple has addressed this limitation with a new feature called Activation Lock in iOS 7, that ties your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with your Apple ID.
Here’s how Find My iPhone with Activation Lock works in iOS 7 and will help your protect your iPhone from theft:
  • There is no new setting to enable or disable Activation Lock, the feature has been integrated with Find my iPhone, so it will be enabled automatically when you enable Find My iPhone. To enable Find my iPhone, go to Settings, scroll down and tap on iCloud, turn on Find my iPhone. You can be prompted to sign in with your Apple ID. If you had enabled Find my iPhone before upgrading to iOS 7, then Activation Lock will be enabled.
disable-findmyiphone
  • When you enable Find my iPhone in iOS 7, Apple stores your Apple ID on its Activation services and links it to your device. So going forward, your password will be required before anyone can turn off Find My iPhone on your device, erase your device, or reactivate and use your device.
  • It is not possible to turn off Find my iPhone without entering the Apple ID password. This is to ensure that someone who has access to your iPhone, cannot disable it without your knowledge.
  • You also can’t restore the device using iTunes. iTunes will inform you that the device cannot be restored as Find my iPhone is on. So you need to first turn off Find my iPhone, which as we mentioned earlier, will prompt you to enter the Apple ID password, and then restore the device using iTunes.
  • If someone tries to erase all the content and settings from the device via the Settings app, he or she will be prompted to enter the Apple ID password.
  • Someone can restore the device by putting it in DFU or recovery mode, however after restoring your device, the person will be prompted to enter the Apple ID and password during the setup process, so it won’t be possible to use the device.
  • Apple has also made improvements to the Lost mode feature in iOS 7. Now when you remotely wipe the data on your lost or stolen device using Find my iPhone app, you will still be able to display the custom message with your phone number on the Lock screen. iTunes will also display this message when someone connects the device to a computer running iTunes.
find_my_iphone_lost_screen
  • If you are lucky to get your device back, you can reactivate it by entering your Apple ID and password, and restore it using iCloud or iTunes if you had remotely wiped the data.
find_my_iphone_erase_screen
  • Someone can turn off the device when it is Lost mode, which would take it off the radar and prevent the device from being tracked. But it is kind of pointless as the person will have to enter the passcode to gain access to the device after turning it on.
  • If you’re planning to sell your device with iOS 7, you should disable Find my iPhone in order to deactivate the Activation Lock. You should also check for Activation Lock before purchasing a used device.

Oops! EBay seller cancels sale of gold iPhone 5s for $10,100

iPhone 5s Ebay
Although EBay's website says a gold iPhone 5s was sold for more than $10,000, the seller of the item said the sale was canceled due to a mistake by the top buyer. When buying items on EBay, be careful how you type.
A typing mistake caused a user to bid $10,100 for a gold iPhone 5s earlier this week -- more than 50 times the item's regular price of $200 with a two-year contract -- and got the person worldwide attention.
But while the gadget is listed as sold on EBay, the item's seller said Friday that he has canceled the transaction at the request of the buyer, who apparently typed in one too many zeroes when bidding for the popular smartphone.

Rs 12,000. That’s All Your iPhone 5S Actually Costs.

iPhone 5S

Just yesterday we got you news that theiPhone 5S is selling for as high as Rs 1 lakh in the grey markets of Mumbai and Delhi in India. While the price is for the much coveted iPhone 5S Gold, the silver and black variants aren’t exactly any cheaper. However, according to a recent report by IHS, making the all new iPhone 5S isn’t exactly any more complex or expensive than manufacturing the previous version. All said and done, the all new iPhone 5S costs just $200 or approximately,  Rs 12,000 to manufacture.

According to data provided by IHS, a total of the components used to make the iPhone 5S costs approximately $190.90. Putting these components together and manufacturing the actual device you hold in your hand is a measly $8 extra. The total cost of the iPhone 5S isn’t any more than 198.70 dollars. This is just a little over a dollar expensive to manufacture as the iPhone 5 cost $197 to make.
iPhone 5SiPhone 5S

There’s no real change in design in the iPhone 5S. The only new hardware additions are the flash, the Touch ID sensor and the 64 bit chipware. These additions have clearly fit well under one dollar making it a real sweet deal for Apple.

Clearly, with the prices ranging from over 10,000 dollars on popular auctioning sites to over Rs 1 lakh in India, Apple has more than enough of their share of profits in the kitty.

iPhone 5S or the next ‘big’ iPhone is not any different from the previous model, clearly in terms of making. But how does the now tagged along younger sibling fare?

iPhone 5C is clearly the budget option for the iPhone 5S. Try as they might, Apple cannot take away the 'cheap' moniker from iPhone 5C and replace it with the actual iPhone 5 Colourful. iPhone 5C might be the cheaper variant but how expensive is it to make?

The phone is clearly nothing more than a pastic-moulded and slightly revamped iPhone 5. Therefore, the making of the iPhone 5C shouldn't really cost any more. And indeed it doesn't. Infact, iPhone 5C manufacturing is relatively cheaper than that of the iPhone 5. According to IHS data, making the iPhone 5C doesn't cost anything more than $173.45, keeping in mind both, the components and making parts.
iPhone 5CiPhone 5C

iPhone 5C might be Apple's answer to iPhone enthusiasts in emerging markets like Asia but the pricing of the phone hasn't exactly endeared the device. While rumours are rife that iPhone 5C will cost nearly Rs 40,000 in India, the phone is pegged at $549 in the US. If those honchos at Apple call Rs 40,000 cheap, they really live in their Silicon Valley bubbles and need a wake-up call. Soon.

Even if Apple decides to reduce costs and bring down the price, chances of iPhone 5C being cheaper than iPhone 5 are remote. And with the exact same features and phones marketed in plastic at a premium cost, it might be better for you to buy the iPhone 5 which is sure to get a heavy price drop.

Whatever the manufacturing costs be, the profits are clearly flowing to Apple coffers... There is a price for innovation, you argue? Oh well. If you say so!

$24 sticker kit makes your iPhone 5 look like an iPhone 5S

The iPhone 5s is in short supply right now, with Apple struggling currently to ship enough units to meet the insatiable demand. But if you want the look of the Cupertino’s latest and greatest handset without paying the hefty sums Apple is charging, you may be interested in the much cheaper option of an “Upgrade Kit,” which essentially allows you to turn your iPhone 5 into an “iPhone 5s” of any color variant.
Of course, the Upgrade Kit doesn’t actually upgrade any of your internal hardware, so once you’ve applied it, you’re still left with an iPhone 5 in a 5s shell. With that said, the conversion package does look rather plausible, and if you were more interested by the new Space Gray or Gold color configurations than the fingerprint sensor, improved camera or enhanced, 64-bit processor, then the Upgrade Kit is your perfect go-between.
Upgrade kit 2
With even the 16GB iPhone 5s costing several hundred dollars unsubsidized, it’s certainly not cheap, but since the Upgrade Kit costs just £14.99 from Mobile Fun (around $24US), you can give your iPhone 5 a fresh makeover.
The Gold version of the iPhone 5s is currently commanding up to $1800 on eBay, but with Mobile Fun catering to the Silver, Space Gray and Gold colors, you can get that sought-after look without having to pay extortionate sums of money.
Upgrade kit
The real iPhone 5s, which is sold out almost everywhere you look right now, is reckoned by many to be the biggest upgrade to the iPhone range in many generations, but while the features alone are pretty impressive, it is the gold rush that has really gotten people talking about Apple’s most recent export.
Having released alongside the iPhone 5c, which itself offers a plethora of colors, the iPhone 5s shifted several million units during its first three days, and although Apple Retail Stores are gradually receiving more batches of devices, those having ordered online are unlikely to see their iPhone 5s until October.
So, with all this waiting and money changing hands, you can essentially avoid both by “upgrading” your iPhone 5 to suit the current generation thanks to Mobile Fun. And hey, judging by the images below, the result is pretty convincing!

If you’re interested, simply head over to this link and choose your Upgrade Kit for your iPhone 5 and transform it into an iPhone 5s!

Get to know Safari in iOS 7

ios7_safari_tab_screen
Safari is probably one of the only stock iOS apps that has received some attention in every major iOS software update. So not surprisingly, Safari has received an update in iOS 7 as well.
We take an in-depth look at the new features and improvements in Safari in iOS 7.
Here’s what’s new or has changed in iOS 7 Safari:
  • The first thing you’ll notice when you launch Safari in iOS 7 is the new fullscreen look, where the search field at the top and the toolbar at the bottom disappear when you’re browsing, and shows you the content with domain name of the website in the status bar.
ios7_safari_full_screen
  • You can navigate back and forth through your browser history using gestures. You can go back to the previous webpage by swiping from the left edge of the display and go forward by swiping from the right edge of the display.
  • The search and address bar have been merged into a new unified smart search field, that allows you type the url of the website or search. You can access the smart search field by tapping or pulling down at the top. When you start typing, it displays the top url hit, suggestions from Google Search or your favorite search engine, your Bookmarks and history, and results of the text search on the webpage in real-time.
  • When you tap on the search field, it displays icons for all your favorites, which is a new feature. It gives you quick and easy one-tap access to your favorite websites. To add a website as a favorite, tap on the share button, then tap on Bookmarks and add it to the Favorites folder. You have the option to select which folder should be the favorites folder via the Settings app (Settings > Safari > Favorites).
  • The Bookmark controls has also been revamped with a tabbed interface. When you tap on the Bookmark icon at the bottom, it displays your Bookmarks.
ios7_safari_bookmarks_screen
  • You have a new tab for shared links, these are links shared by people you follow on Twitter. This is quite neat as you can open the links directly within the Safari app.
  • You also have a new tab to access your Reading list. You have the option to show just the unread links or all the links in your Reading list, by tapping on the Show Unread/Show all toggle at the bottom right of the screen.
  • You can now scroll seamlessly from article to article in your Reading list. You don’t have to go through the hassle of going back to your Reading list to access the next link.
  • As we’ve pointed out earlier, the Share panel have been completely redesigned in iOS 7. When you tap on the Share control at the bottom, it opens the Share panel, which consists of three distinct sections:
  • In the top most section, you get an option to share the URL of the webpage with people nearby using the newAirDrop for iOS feature.
  • In the next section, you get the option to share the URL via Message, Mail, iCloud, Facebook and Twitter.
  • In the last section, you have the option to Bookmark, Add to Reading list, Add to Home Screen, Print or the copy the url of the webpage.
  • Apple has completely redesigned the tab interface for Safari in iOS 7 with vertical scrolling, most probably to avoid confusing users with the all-new card-based interface for app switcher. It looks really cool.
ios7_safari_tab_screen
  • To close a webpage, just swipe a tab offscreen to the left or tap on the x button. You can close only one tab at a time, and there is no option to close all tabs.
  • You can also reorder the tabs by tapping and holding on a tab, and moving it to the place you want it.
  • You can finally open unlimited number of tabs, you’re no longer limited to just 8 tabs on the iPhone.
  • It is easier and quicker to turn on or turn off private browsing session in iOS 7 Safari. Tap on the tab control at the bottom, followed by the Private button on the bottom left corner to turn on or turn off private browsing. You don’t have to go through the hassle of accessing the Settings app to enable or disable Private browsing.
  • You can access your iCloud tabs, by scrolling down beyond your local tabs. They’re displayed as a list against a translucent background, sorted by device.
  • You can tap on the icon to the left of the smart search field to access the Safari Reader feature, which displays web articles without ads or clutter. The icon turns white when the Reader functionality is activated.
  • Apple has also added much needed parental controls to Safari (Settings > General > Restrictions > Websites under Allowed Content), so parents can:
  • allow their children to visit all websites
  • Limit access to many adult websites automatically. Here parents can also add allowed and restricted websites.
ios-7-safari-restrictions-1
  • Allow access to specific websites only. Apple has added a list of children friendly websites like Discovery Kids, Disney, National Geographic – Kids etc. Parents can also add a website by tapping on the “Add a Website” option.
ios-7-safari-restrictions-3
  • Apple has ditched the .com button from the iOS Keyboard in Safari and replaced it with a dot, making more room for the space bar. You can still tap and hold on the dot to access the domain extensions.

iPhone 5S, 5C hit Indian 'grey' market with humongous Rs 64,000, Rs 49,000 price tag

Apple Inc has been grabbing the headlines for the last few days especially with the unprecedented success its two new smartphones, the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, have logged. But, while Apple Inc CEO Tim Cook is laughing all the way to the bank, and so are shareholders, for Indians the experience may just have lost its sheen, except of course for the ones packing fat wallets.
While there were many who questioned the success quotient of the new iPhones, the official market roll out in US of the models on Friday dispelled all thoughts of the gadgets being anything but a success – sales figures prove it. The frenzy in the US and much of elsewhere has also driven the craze for new iPhones in India too, which also talked of the premium gadget being made available to the 'masses'. However, the buzz, created by suitable 'leaks' of an 'affordable' iPhone 5C have now been dispelled, while 5S price is eye-popping indeed.
The price of the so-called 'budget' iPhone 5C and the high-end iPhone 5S have hit the roof. According to the reports both the newly launched iPhones officially will be available by Diwali in India but Delhi's grey market is already offering the gadgets with a pricey sticker - iPhone 5S at Rs 64,000, while iPhone 5C at Rs 49,000.

List Of All Bugs Found In iOS 7 Till Now

  • Launch bug lets you drag around the entire app
In some cases, you can drag the splash screen while an app is launching, which has some unintended consequences
  • iOS 7 forgets your lock screen wallpaper
If you quickly slide in the reverse direction after unlocking your device, iOS will forget your lock screen wallpaper and use the home screen wallpaper instead.
  • Unauthorised photos, email access from lock screen
Just a day after the release of iOS 7, a security flaw was discovered that let anyone access your photos, emails or Twitter from the lock screen without knowing your passcode.
Lock screen has historically been a weak point for Apple from a security perspective, and iOS 7 remains no different. A bug was found that lets unauthorised users dial any number from the iPhone’s emergency call screen without knowing your passcode.
Layout and UI glitches
iOS 7 now lets app take over the whole screen including the portion earlier reserved for the status. This, along with a number of other changes in the design language, have resulted in a number of layout issues creeping into iOS apps, many of which are Apple’s own. A Tumblr named “Sloppy UI” is collecting all these issues, and we’ve added a few below:
  • The chat bubble in the new Messages app gets stuck midway in certain cases:
messages bug
  • The more link appears in the middle of the text:
more link bug
  • The count and rearranging grabber overlap in the Reminders app on the iPad:
ipad reminders bug
  • Too many buttons:
buttons app store bug
  • Someone forgot to apply the superellipse mask to the Sounds icon:
square icon bug
Apart from these bugs, there are quite a few crashes here and there, which will most likely be solved when Apple delivers the next minor update to iOS 7. Let’s hope that iOS 7 also includes bugs that the evaders can use to develop the iOS 7 jailbreak.

List Of All New Features Of iOS 7

1. Change Text Size
iOS 7 gives you the ability to adjust the font size across apps. The feature currently works with apps that support Dynamic Type. So it will work with the stock iOS apps and some of the apps that have been updated for iOS 7.
To adjust the font size, launch the Settings app and navigate to General > Text Size and drag the slider to adjust the font size. You will see the font size on the screen change in real-time, which should help you adjust the font size based on your preference.
ios-7-hidden-features-1
2. Block Calls and Messages
You can finally block voice calls, FaceTime calls and messages from a number or Contact in iOS 7.
You can block a number or contact by tapping on the Block this Caller option in the Contacts card, which can be accessed from the Phone app, FaceTime app, or the Messages app. You can also add a contact to the block list via the Settings app by navigating to:
  • Settings > Phone > Blocked
  • Settings > Messages > Blocked
  • Settings > FaceTime > Blocked
ios-7-hidden-features-2
3. Continuous Shooting mode
iPhone 5s camera comes with a cool Burst mode feature, that allows you to take 10 photos per second. It is possible due to the new image signal processor included in iPhone 5s’ A7 chip.
If you’ve an older iOS device, then one little known new feature is the Continuous shooting mode, which gives you the ability to shoot photos continuously by long pressing the shutter button.
To see the new mode in action, just open iOS 7 Camera app and long tap the shutter button. You’ll see that iOS starts shooting and saving images to the Camera roll.
ios7-camera-hero
4. Better Do Not Disturb
‘Do Not Disturb’ was one of my favorite iOS 6 features. But it didn’t meet all our requirements as the incoming calls and notifications were silenced only when the iPhone is locked. In iOS 6, Apple assumed that when we’re using your iPhone, we’re fine to be disturbed by calls and notifications.
That’s not always the case, there are times when we don’t want to be disturbed and want to silence notifications and calls, say while we’re writing an important email or watching a video or maybe even while playing a game.
In iOS 7 you can finally silence incoming calls and notifications even when the iPhone is unlocked. You don’t need to use guided access as a workaround.
To silence incoming calls and notifications while the iPhone is either locked or unlocked, launch the Settings app and navigate to Do Not Disturb, and select Always under Silence.
ios-7-hidden-features-3
5. Frequent Locations
You may have noticed that Notification Center is completely revamped in iOS 7. It includes a new tab called Today that displays summary of the day’s events—such as the weather forecast, appointments, birthdays, stock quotes, and even a quick summary of what’s coming up tomorrow. It also displays the traffic conditions for your commute (iPhone 4S or later).
If you’re wondering how your iPhone knows where you frequently visit, then there is a hidden settings called Frequent Locations. It allows your iPhone to learn places you frequently visit.
It is enabled by default. If you want to disable it, launch the Settings app and navigate to Settings > Privacy > Location Services -> System Services -> Frequent Locations > Frequent Locations On/Off toggle.
ios-7-hidden-features-4
6. Dynamic Wallpapers
iOS 7 has an all-new look, and to go with the new look, there are new colorful wallpapers as well. But there’s also a whole new category of wallpapers that bring subtle animations to the home and the lock screen.
These wallpapers are called “Dynamic Wallpapers” and are almost as big a change as the timeapple allowed users to set their own home screen wallpapers in iOS 4.
Check out this post to find out how to set Dynamic Wallpapers.
ios7-dynamic-wallpapers-2
7. Parallax Effect
One of the coolest features of iOS 7 has to be the parallax effect.
Apple’s vision for realism in interfaces was finally seen with iOS 7, where UI elements lived in layers at different depths along the z-axis, and reacted to motion differently, creating a parallax effect where objects closer to the eye move faster than ones that are farther away.
You’ll can see parallax not just on the home screen or in apple apps, but even in third-party apps, since Apple’s opening up those APIs as a part of the iOS 7 SDK.
Apple’s clearly not given up on realism in interfaces (often called skeuomorphism) with iOS 7, just that they’ve moved on from fake leather and linen textures to 3D UI elements.
In case you are not aware, you can disable the Parallax effect by enabling the Reduce Motion toggle in the Settings app (navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Reduce Motion, tap on the On/Off toggle to turn it on).
ios-7-hidden-features-5
8. Turn Settings On or Off Using Siri
Siri has received major overhaul, and officially out of beta with the iOS 7 release.
One of the coolest new features that has been added to Siri, is the ability to turn settings on or off with voice commands using Siri. You can turn settings on or off, like Airplane Mode, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb, and Accessibility.
For example: to turn on Bluetooth, launch Siri and just say “Turn on Bluetooth,” if it is already enabled, Siri will let you know that Bluetooth is already turned on or it will turn it on for you.
ios-7-hidden-features-6
9. Background Updates
One of the most painful things prior to iOS 7 was to manually install app updates. That has been addressed by a new feature called Background App Updates, which will keep the apps up to date.
To enable this launch the Settings app, scroll down to iTunes & App Store, and tap on the On/Off toggle for Updates under Automatic Downloads to enable background updates.
ios-7-hidden-features-7
This will update the apps in the background when you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network. If have unlimited data plan then you could also enable the Use Mobile Data toggle to enable background app updates over cellular network.
10. Background App Refresh
One of the features of iOS 7′s smarter multitasking feature is Background App Refresh, this feature allows allows apps to refresh their content when on Wi-Fi or a mobile network, or use Location Services, in the background.
When Background App Refresh is on, apps that take advantage of this feature can refresh themselves in the background, so you get to see the latest content when you relaunch the app offering a much better user experience. For example, an app can check if new content is available and download the updates, or retrieve the updated content in the background when it receives a push notification, so the new content is ready for viewing when you launch the app. Apps can also schedule background refreshing based on your location.
iOS will also notice your pattern of usage for app such as such the Facebook app, which you use constantly throughout the day and provide it with frequent background cycles so it can stay up to date. iOS also learns when the device is typically inactive, such as during the night when you’re sleeping, to reduce update frequency when the device not used.
It is enabled by default. You can turn it off by launching the Settings app and navigating to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
ios-7-hidden-features-8
If you turn off Background App Refresh then no app will be able to update in the background. Alternatively, you can allow only some apps to update in the background.
11. Gestures
iOS 7 comes with an all-new flattened interface, but another part of the changed interface that hasn’t been talked about much is the importance given to gestures.
It includes a number of new gestures that let you do things a lot faster, which are not very obvious such as:
  • The swipe from the left edge towards the right in Mail, Notes, Settings, Messages etc. to go back one screen.
  • A swipe down from the top half of the home screen brings up the new Spotlight search interface.
ios7-spotlight
  • Swipe from the left edge in Safari to go back one page and swipe from the right edge in Safari to go forward.
  • Drag a tab towards the left in the new Safari tab view to close a tab.
  • Switch between adjacent Notification Center tabs by swiping horizontally
  • A swipe from right to left brings up the “Trash” and “More” options while in the mail list view. Tapping on more lets you reply, forward, flag, mark as read, mark as junk or move the message.
  • Swipe right from anywhere on the screen to unlock your device.
  • In the Photos app, you can long tap on a thumbnail to view a larger preview. As you slide your finger over the list, you’ll see the preview update for the thumbnail under your finger.
12. Camera App with new Square mode and Real-time filters
iOS 7′s Camera comes with a new mode called Square, which as the name suggests allows you to take Instagram-like square photos. To access the Square mode, launch the Camera app and swipe on the shutter button from right to left to switch the Square mode.
ios7-camera-2
The Camera app also includes real-time filters that can be accessed by tapping on the button to the right of the shutter button. When you tap on the filters button/tile, it shows you real-time filter effects such as Mono, Tonal, Noir, Fade, Chrome, Process, Transfer and Instant in tile format. Tap on the one you like and then tap the shutter button to take the photo with the filter effect.
io_7_camera_filters_all_fixed
You also have the option to apply the filters to a photo that has already been taken using the Editing feature.
13. Control Center Access
iOS 7 includes an all-new Control Center that gives you quick access to controls and apps from anywhere in the iOS. You can access it by swiping up from the buttom on the Lock screen, Home screen or even apps.
However, if you don’t want someone to access it from the Lock screen, you can disable it. Launch the Settings app, tap on Control Center and then tap on the On/Off toggle to turn off access to Control Center on the Lock Screen.
ios-7-hidden-features-9
14. Unlimited Apps in Folders
In case you are not aware, you can now add an unlimited number of apps in a folder and are no longer limited to just 12 apps (iPhone 5).
You can add up to 9 apps in each folder page, and can access the apps on other folder pages with a swipe, just like the Home screen pages. The ability to add unlimited apps should greatly reduce the clutter on the Home screen, and allow you organize all your apps in just 1 or 2 Home screens.

15. Kill an App with a Swipe
When you double press the Home button to access the multitasking tray/app switcher, you have probably noticed the all-new card-based interface quite similar to the tab switching interface in mobile Safari. It displays the preview of the app you are running along with the logo of the app.
You can kill an app running in the background by swiping up on the card. It’s a lot easier than the cumbersome method of tapping and holding on the app icon till it goes into wiggle mode and tap on the x button to kill an app. You can close up to 3 apps at a time from the app switcher.

16. Make Siri Use Google
One of the biggest and most controversial changes in iOS 7 has been Apple’s decision to ditch Google in favor of Bing for web search results in Siri. The web search results powered by Bing are now displayed within Siri’s UI, instead of launching Safari.
However, don’t panic, you can still use Google for the web search as there is a workaround for it. Simply say “Search Google for” and your search term, it will launch Safari and display the search results on Google, just the way it works in iOS 6.x currently.
17. Unlimited tabs in Safari
Safari not only gets a cool new tabbing interface in iOS 7 with vertical scrolling, it finally allows you to open unlimited tabs on the iPhone, and no longer restricted to just 8 tabs.

18. Access Shared links on Twitter in Safari
You can now quickly access links shared on Twitter directly in Safari.
Tap on the Bookmarks icon at the bottom and then the @ tab to access the tweets that include links, so you can open them directly in Safari. It’s a really neat feature.
19. Hide Newsstand in a Folder
You can finally add Newsstand app to a folder, it is no longer a folder type app. If you don’t use it, feel free to add it to a folder to hide it.

20. Granular Cellular Data Tracking
iOS has some amount of cellular tracking built into earlier and current versions, but you couldn’t see data usage broken down by apps. iOS 7 now lets you see per-app data usage, and includes a handy toggle that you can use to disable cellular data for certain apps.
You can access this information by launching the Settings app and navigating to Settings > Mobile/Cellular and then scrolling down to the Use Mobile Data for section to see the list of apps and their app usage along with the On/Off toggle.

21. Compass as a Bubble Level
Hidden in the second page of the Compass app is a bubble level feature. It allows you to use your iPhone to tell if the surface is level or not.

As David points out in the comments, if you turn the iPhone on its side or hold it vertically instead of laying it flat, the bubble level switches to a horizontal level, which looks like an airplane’s horizon gauge.

Bonus
This list would have been incomplete without mentioning these features, so I’m adding them in this bonus section.
  • The Clock icon on the Home screen now displays the correct time, including the live second hand. In normal mode, the animation of the second hand is smooth, but when you try to delete an app, and the apps are in wiggle mode, the second hand animation starts the tick tock movement. It’s amazing (and a little crazy) that someone at Apple thought we would notice this when we’re trying to delete an app.
  • You can turn your iOS device into a flashlight by tapping on the flashlight icon in Control Center.
  • Maps in iOS 7 has a night mode that makes the UI chrome dark to make it easier on the user’s eye at night. The app automatically switches between the two modes based on the time of the day.
  • Notifications you’ve seen on your Mac will no longer show up on your iPhone and vice versa thanks to the iCloud based Notification Sync feature.
  • iOS 7 includes a new feature called Activation Lock that makes Find my iPhone feature more foolproof.
  • In the Mail app, you finally have the option to mark all mails as read, or move them to archive or move them to folder when you tap on the Edit button. Thanks to reader, Ryu for the suggestion!
