13 year old UK boy accidentally generated $5600 bill from in-app purchases(source--absinthejailbreak)

13 year old UK boy accidentally generated $5600 bill from in-app purchases – One of the new features introduced in iOS 5 were restriction options in the settings panel, which lets you block the usage of different applications, and the purchasing of App Store and iTunes contents. This feature is very useful for parents, allowing them to prohibit purchases of unwanted content from the App Store. However, parents may forget to enable the restrictions, which can lead to very serious consequences.

Recently, such a misunderstanding took place and the son of a policeman in the UK purchased $5600 worth of content from the iOS App Store.

Earlier this month, a 5 year old UK boy made multiple in-app purchases which generated a bill of $2500, in a mere 15 minutes. Apple refunded all money to that child’s parents – but the situation was different when father of Doug Crossan contacted Apple, and said that his son had mistakenly made multiple in-app purchases: Apple refused to refund the $5600.
This news was reported by the DailyMail, who asked 13 year old Crossan about the incident. He responded, “I thought, I wasn’t charging for them”.
According to the DailyMail, about 300 transactions were made by the boy, who purchased Plants VS Zombies, Gun Builder, Hungry Shark and Nova 3. Most of the transactions were related to in-app purchases.
Crossan’s father called the national Action Fraud helpline, in the hopes of getting his money back from Apple. Unfortunately, attempting to get his money back, Mr. Crossan has inadvertently idicted his son for fraud, and Crossan now faces the possibility of arrest, and questioning by detectives.
This, of course, was not the intention of Mr. Crossan, who stated “I am sure Cameron had no intention to do it.”
