How to Put the Protective Screen on an iPhone

Step 1

Prepare a flat surface -- like a desk or tabletop -- on which to work. The important thing is that the space isn't cluttered or dusty. Use a damp washcloth to clean any dust off the table.

Step 2

Use a microfiber cloth to wipe away the grease and dirt from the glass plate of your iPhone. Protective screen kits often include microfiber cloths for this purpose. If your kit does not include a microfiber cloth, use a slightly damp, soft cloth to clean the iPhone screen, being careful not to get moisture in the openings. Use another soft cloth to dry any remaining moisture.

Step 3

Open the protective film's packaging and analyze the instructions. Often, these protective screens have an additional plastic film backing the adhesive side of the screen -- make sure you know which side is which ahead of time to avoid botching the process.

Step 4

Carefully remove the backing from the protective screen. Often, protective screens sold for the iPhone include small tabs attached to the layers of film, guiding you to where you should peel the plastic from.

Step 5

Align the plastic screen to match the formation of your iPhone's front panel and lay it down on the glass from the top of the device down to the bottom. Be sure the opening for the home button and the ear speaker are aligned to their corresponding components.

Step 6

Push out the air bubbles caught between the protective film and the glass screen. Small cards are often included in protective screen kits, but if one isn't included, you can use a credit card. Use the corner or the side of the card's edge and push it across the bubbles, moving them to the end of the protective screen, to let out the air. This might take a few minutes and some effort.
