Team members of the evad3rs team, pod2g, planetbeing, MuscleNerd and pimskeks are currently in Amsterdam attending the Hack In The Box (HITBSecConf2013) security conference.
The organizers of the conference have announced earlier today that evad3rs team will be holding a press conference tomorrow.
evad3rs had released the evasion jailbreak for iOS 6 – iOS 6.1.2, which was used to jailbreak more than 18 million iOS devices, making it the most popular jailbreaks ever. Apple however killed the jailbreak in iOS 6.1.3 by fixing a number of security flaws that was used by evad3rs team to develop the jailbreak.
From the press release:
The team known as the @Evad3rs (@Planetbeing, @Pod2g, @pimskeks and @Musclenerd) will be holding a press conference to discuss their groundbreaking evasi0n jailbreak at the Hack In The Box security conference (HITBSecConf2013 – Amsterdam) this week.Interestingly, last year, the Chronic Dev team (pod2g was part of that team) had released the Absinthe 2.0 jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 at a press conference at the Hack In The Box (HITBSecConf2012) security conference.
What can you expect from this once in a lifetime press conference? The chance to speak with and question some of the world’s leading iOS hackers on the work behind evasi0n. [..]
[..] We have recently seen evasi0n being patched by Apple in the iOS 6.1.3 update and so the cat and mouse game begins again. But we all know the @Evad3rs have some secrets up their sleeves for the next major release. Why not attend the press conference and ask them face to face?
So does it mean evad3rs will release an updated version of evasi0n jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 tomorrow. Security expert, Stefan Essar aka i0n1c seems to think so, but he’s also known for trolling.
I doubt evad3rs will release a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3as pod2g has categorically stated that they’re not working on it as it would be too much of an effort for a minor update. They’re waiting for Apple to release a major update.
Nevertheless, we’ll be watching the live streaming of the press conference, which will take place at 5 – 6 pm CET, so we’ll let you know if they give us an update on the evasi0n jailbreak.
